To understand better the Japanese mobile market, we’ve had a quick trip down the memory land and looked back at where the gaming industry started in Japan, from arcade, console, PC/online, and finally mobile. In a nutshell, Japan is the pioneer of developing video games and it started as “games are something to play in arcades,” to abundance of home console, to a slow rise of PC/online in the country due to weak internet infrastructure, to the release of mobile phones that quickly outshone PC/online, to mobile still going strong with games released 10 years ago, yet still ranking so high up to this date.
